Introduction to the tool and how to use it

Dot matrix digits are the typeface of early digital watches, calculators and LED signs - every numeral is built by lighting up individual dots on a fixed grid. This generator renders an ordinary number string (including the colon, dot and hyphen used by times and dates) as 5x7 dot matrix art, which is handy for retro titles, image assets or an electronic-sign effect.

Supported characters: the digits 0-9 plus the dot (.), hyphen (-), colon (:) and space - enough for something like 2026-09-30 12:34. Any unsupported character is replaced by a blank space and reported in a notice.

Three groups of settings:
· Dot style - round (●/○), block (█/░) or hash (#/.), the last two being friendlier for plain-text pasting;
· Zoom - each dot is repeated 1 to 6 times, scaling the matrix in both directions;
· Spacing - how many dots of gap sit between characters; 0 is the tightest;
· Board theme - green (classic LED), amber, blue or white for the preview panel.

Steps:
1. Type a number string in the box on the left (the default 2026-09-30 12:34 is ready to try);
2. Pick the dot style, zoom, spacing and board theme;
3. Click Run: the board above previews the LED effect, the box on the right outputs a copyable text matrix, and the table below reports the size, lit-pixel count and lit ratio of every character.
Note: the on and off characters of the text matrix come from the same Unicode block (● with ○, █ with ░, # with .), so every column lines up exactly in a monospace font; the preview board fixes the cell width of each dot and distinguishes lit from unlit by colour alone, so it never loses alignment no matter how long the input is.
