Introduction to the tool and how to use it

An online difference-table tool: enter one series per line (comma or space separated, negatives, decimals and big integers supported) and get every order of differences as a staircase table.

Input format: one series per line, for example 1, 4, 9, 16, 25; a line with fewer than 2 terms reports "too few terms". Each series is limited to 500 terms and 200 lines per run, and the tool silently trims to the limit when exceeded.

Parameters: the difference mode can be forward Δ (default), backward ∇ or central; the stop condition can be "a row is all 0" (default), "a row is constant", or "run to the max order" (1~50).

Conclusion: when some order becomes constant the tool reports that the series is a polynomial of that degree together with the leading difference; an all-zero order states which degree it corresponds to; otherwise it says the series may be exponential, periodic or random. A row needs at least 3 values to count as constant, and the conclusion says so when there are too few terms. Turn on "Polynomial formula" and up to degree 3 the Newton forward formula is recovered.
