Introduction to the tool and how to use it
Number Zero Padding turns values such as 1, 42 and 678 into 0001, 0042 and 0678 — handy for serial numbers, aligned columns, SKUs and test data.
Steps:
1. Paste your numbers; commas, spaces, line breaks or any other separator work;
2. Set the target length (how many digits the integer part should have) and the pad position: left padding is the classic numbering case, right padding extends a value to a fixed-length code;
3. Enter the number of decimal places to align fractions (0 keeps them as they are); tick "strip existing leading zeros" to turn 007 into 7 before padding;
4. Click Run. The text box lists the padded values one per line, the table below shows the original-to-padded comparison, and you can download it as CSV.
Note: values that already reach the target length are left untouched and never truncated, and the minus sign always stays in front.
